We have received some fantastic feedback from players, parents and the public after another successful season. How to define a successful season? Easy, kids on court, happy clubs, happy schools, happy parents and results and performances.
Take a look at our season in review.
With the season ending in late April each year, the first real event for our ATA athletes, is the Kalgoorlie, WA. We take a bus load of kids, and make the 1700km round trip every year. Our 16s play up in AMT and our younger kids get some good points, A trophy or two
On the last day of the tournament I fly from Kalgoorlie to Perth then to the Gold Coast as I’ve been invited to coach at the 2014 National 10s Talent Development Camp. The camp is held at Hope Island Tennis Centre. It is a massive learning week for me. We have a very talented 9 year old in Abbi Gibson who is a work horse on court and is really doing well. I pick up valuable teaching skills that will help with Abbi and our other ATA athletes
July holidays and another Perth trip, we take 8 kids away and have a ball. Abbi Gibson and Jack Hodgkinson get the best results of our crew, but kids come away with wins and points and more experience.
Junior Player Jarrod Capararo heads off on a WA State Team Trip, this kid works hard and has been right up their in the rankings. He also does very well at club level in senior events.
We run camps the second week of holidays, massive thanks to Ainsley and Sam who do our Hot Shots camps in 2014. We then run some advanced afternoon camps
We pick up a little run around Vehicle for town, the bus is great, but it is expensive to run and not the best to zip around for quick trips so we pick up a nice little Barina, thanks to Albany City Motors.
In August we unearth CAMP KRETSCHY, a tennis camp for high performance players. Coaches Jarron Kretschmann, Joe McCarthy, Brenton Bacon and myself spawn an idea and it has gathered momentum. Now to work on a location.
It is starting to get busy, we are taking bookings already for schools and clubs. Active after school seems to be a big thing and the ASC and AASC are really happy with the program. We have bookings for 5 schools already and we haven’t even advertised.
We host our 12 and under Live in Camp and attract kids 300km away for the weekend. Its full on but we have a ball.
October and it is CAMP KRETSCHY time. A full on week with heaps of Top 5 in the state players, college bound players, and an extrodinary week of coaching and boot camp style drills. Such an enjoyable week.

December and it’s a massive quiz night to raise $$ for our NSW/VIC Tour. We hit the jackpot with $5000 raised on the night.
We are so lucky to again have Fed Cup Captain Alicia Molik on court with our crew. What she does with her spare time is amazing and she is an incredible role model for our athletes.
We announce the arrival of Bryce McLean, our new coach, and first work for him is our December Holiday Camps. We head to East Freo with kids and get the kids some good grass court matches.
We hit the courts at the Hopman Cup, great fun again.
Abbi Gibson wins 2 AR events in Perth, this kid is playing and beating 12 year olds and 9. How good is her 2015 going to be!
January 2015, we head over east again for our NSW/VIC Tennis Trip and Aussie Open Trip. Good times and great results. Highlights were the results of some of our older kids, meeting Nick Bollettieri and the Commercial Club!
We arrive home and 3 days later head to Busselton for their junior event.
Bryce is doing an amazing job, lots of ideas and is all set for a big term.
Dig into our pockets to resurface the Coogee St Court. It does look amazing.

Courts full again, another successful junior event
Our school kids perform great in Perth at the Sunsmart Schools Classic, Mt Barker boys 10-12 and GSG girls 7-9 pick up wins and 2 other GSG teams get runner up, top effort.
We head to Bridgetown for Easter, always fun thing to do as a club and good to lead into WA Country Champs with some grass court matches.
Another holiday training camp. Hot Shots and Advanced. Our players will be chomping at the bit to get on court in a few days.
WA Country Champs was a massive success with a heap of wins and we missed the big overall champs trophy by one point. Well done to all involved.
No that’s not everything, check our Facebook page for the day to days,m but just an outline of our season. We are back on the courts next week. Early starts and late finishes, but we wouldn’t have it any other way!
